Paint-l in France - Saturday and Sunday - Sept 11, 12

Kay and Suzanne in front of the B&B (here they're called "Chambre d'Hôte"). Sasha, the young Russian woman who owns the B&B has given us space in it for our gallery.
Saturday morning we went to Limoux, a nearby town,
for lunch and to paint. Actually, Kaye and Suzanne went to paint, but John and I went there to try to buy flea bombs (unsuccessfully). We went our separate ways and then met again for lunch in the town square, where there's a lovely fountain.

Sunday morning. Cheryl and Pat arrived last night, and we all decided on a trip up the "painting hill" for the next morning (Sunday). The day started off dull and cool, then alternated between hazy/bright and misty/cloudy, with a few bits of bright and sunny thrown in. We parked near the shepherd's hut and set up for the morning.
Painters on the painting hill: Pat, Cheryl, Ellie. Dancers on the painting hill: Pat, Cheryl, Suzanne. Must be something in the Espéraza air. Note Pat's  "Perfect Painting Hat"

When we came back from painting hill, the sun was out and the Sunday market was in full swing. This is the view, left and right from Suzanne and Kay's balcony.

After a bit of bustling around, making tags, finding hanging hardware - while DH John was trying to find table space to lay out food and drinks -  everything was finally ready and the show began. Here's one shot of it, showing a framed watercolor by Victoria, and two watercolors that Kay did - one of the castle at Puivert, the other of an arched view of the river in Limoux.
Kaye, in front of a painting by Jemilla, Michael and Debs, and Mirriam - who cadged money from her parents (Stan and Debs) to buy paintings. Start them young, I say... ;-)

Clockwise from top right: Ste Marie Plage, Ellie; Abbey Ruins, Jill Cooper; two watercolors from Painting Hill, Pat; "Today", Cheryl; and the bottom of a painting by Vanilla.
The gallery / B&B has a terrace, populated by smokers and other denizens. These two are Stan, an American musician originally from Chicago, who lived in London for many years before coming to this area - and Ian, a friend of Vanilla's from London.

(Left) Two watercolors (unframed) by MJ, done at Puivert on Friday; two oils by Suzanne done that morning - both sold!

(Right) One painting by Jemilla, over three watercolors (unframed) by Ellie. The small one on the left was bought by that young art buyer, Mirriam.
